In terms of wood usage, we recommend using 4-6 medium-sized and split logs of kiln-dried hardwoods like Oak, Hickory, Maple, and Pecan reduced to coals. The fire pit cooking system works best with a shallow bed of embers in your fire pit's burn chamber, and the Cast Iron Grill should be treated just like cast iron you're familiar with, with an extra 30 minutes for seasoning before use. The Hub is an essential part of the fire pit cooking system, and the Cast Iron Grill should never be placed over your fire pit without it.
